Yes, although they require close supervision as Kadju House is a two storied house built on a hill, and consists of various levels. Our staff love children and are excellent with children, and will gladly take care of them.

The weather in Sri Lanka on the Sri Lankan coast is monsoonal. The best time to visit is between November and May and in August and September. The monsoon period is in June and July, and in October. However, as The Kadju House is located in the dry zone, the rain is normally sporadic even during the monsoon and one may have the occasional clear rainless day. The Kadju House is located on an hill and enjoys cooling breezes – from the ocean during the day, and from inland in the evenings. It can even be quite chilly late at night and at early morning. The days are hot and sunny but this is tempered by the cooling breezes and when indoors, overhead ceiling fans. 

Kadju House is a year round destination. The driest part of the year is between November and May. June/July and October/November are wetter months due to the monsoon. The beach is rougher during the monsoon. Thunder storms are dramatic and beautiful and offer a different experience of being on the coast. 

No. However, ingredients are procured at cost and will be cooked by our chef for no extra charge. The savings compared to eating at a hotel restaurant is very significant. You will give our chef a cash float for procuring the ingredients after discussing the day’s menu with you, and he will do the shopping and present you with an account of the purchases. It might be a good idea, and experience for you to accompany him to the local markets to get a feel of what’s available, and also to get an experience of meeting the local traders and very friendly locals. 

Most guests come by private car either as part of a bigger exploration around Sri Lanka. Airport transfers can be arranged by Kadju House and it is highly recommended that transfers are pre-arranged prior to arrival at the airport. 

Yes. Drivers’ may also take their meals with the household staff for a small supplementary payment.
